Director Noel Thompson on location with lead actor
Writer / Director / Producer

Noel Thompson

Noel writes psychological thrillers that weave together complex disparate threads as characters overcome their self-limiting beliefs. She has written and directed short films, including SNOWDRIFT, which debuted in New York City in May 2026. She also wrote TWOFER, which was produced and seen in film festivals after being shot using Houston Film Alliance grant funds. Her horror-tango feature GHOSTS OF RECOLETA is in development in Argentina.

Noel has been gathering the team for her first feature film, including providing location and talent scouting, approaching investors, and creating a crowdfunding campaign. She hopes SNOWDRIFT will be a calling card for her portfolio of feature and TV pilot scripts.

The story

What's the Story?

“In a snowy Appalachian town, the lives of seven strangers become intertwined after a murder leads to a final reckoning for a grieving father, an abusive drug dealer, a loyal barmaid, and a corrupt Sheriff.”

One snowy night, Michael's son, Tyler, goes to meet Bobby for drugs, but when he doesn't have the cash, he threatens Bobby with blackmail, so Bobby shoots him in the head and makes it look like a suicide. Bobby has his brother, Sheriff Tom, cover his tracks, like always.

Annie realizes when Bobby shows up with blood stains and a gun that his drug deal didn't go down like usual. She tries to leave Bobby, but he sweet-talks her back with promises of a different future - one that includes her greatest wish - a baby and a real family. Annie stays working at the bar, biding her time, hopeful, for now.

A few months after his son's death, Michael is devastated, and with no help from the Sheriff, Michael goes out with a plan of revenge - he's going to find this “Bobby” and kill him or die trying.

Michael takes his son's gun, gets in his car, and heads for Bobby's bar.

Annie decides that she's finally done with Bobby's bullshit - she's leaving - tonight. Bobby attacks her, and in the struggle, she accidentally stabs and kills him. Annie hides his body in the bar, and desperately tries to close the bar to make a run for it.

There's only one problem - there's a blizzard.
